Looks like a broader audience will get to enjoy Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim Movie this summer, with the official MPAA rating being PG-13 via the CLASSIFICATION AND RATING ADMINISTRATION (CARA). The rating bulletin provides information on the rating chosen and why:
Rated PG-13 for sequences of intense sci-fi action and violence throughout,
and brief language. (CARA Bulletin)
Intense sci-fi action and violence throughout - yep, that sounds pretty enticing! It will be no surprise if Pacific Rim kick starts its own, massive franchise with both the older and younger generation of moviegoers.
